Update on adoption

Quick update on a previous post about my friend's who are adopting from Rwanda. Hope has been restored! God is so good and so faithful to answer our prayers. They got multiple pieces of good news over the weekend regarding adoption in Rwanda. It's lots of complicated stuff, but things are looking up. It will probably be at least another six months before they can go over there to get Daniel. God wants and deserves the glory for making this adoption happen. And we will give it all to Him!

Another bonus - we got to see some new, more recent pictures of Daniel on Sunday! He is so cute, looks very healthy, and his hair naturally grows in a mohawk! :)

Anne's baby shower

This weekend we went to Chicago for my sister Anne's baby shower. My family and some of Anne's good friends all flew in to spend the weekend together. Her twin boys are due in early December! I cannot wait to meet them. Boys - I promise now to spoil you rotten and be your favorite aunt. (game on Amy!) The shower was hosted by two of Anne's best friends. It was a gift card shower and the theme was "twins". Everyone was asked to put on their creative hats and wrap their gift card in a unique way. I was very impressed with some of the things that girls came up with! It was so great to see everyone. Next time I see my sister she will have two babies!
Here are some pics from the shower.

Guido and Vido!!

It's 2 boys!! I was really hoping for at least one girl, but somewhere in my gut I think I knew it was going to be boys. I can't wait!! They are going to be the cutest nephews on the planet.

Explanation on the title: my italian brother-in-law named them Guido and Vido when we first found out they were having twins as a joke. Unfortunately I think the boys may suffer the nicknames for a while! :)

Stay tuned...

Tomorrow my sister Anne finds out if her twins are boys or girls, or one of each! I can hardly wait!! Stay tuned...I'll let you know tomorrow!

Hope Deferred

"Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life." Proverbs 13:12

My heart is sick. My dear friends Pete and Katie have spent the last 7 months or so preparing to adopt a little boy from Rwanda. Walking through it so closely with them, I have become very attached to him as well. Daniel is his name. We think he is about 7 or 8 monts old. He lives in a very loving home where is cared for by the sweetest mommies and aunties. But, we want him to be here. Home. With his family - a dad, mom, and big sister who adore him already. Unfortunately our hopes have been deferred as the country of Rwanda has been rejecting adoption requests. I don't know or understand all of the logistical details, I just know that "their plan" (and mine) for when this all would happen doesn't seem to be coming through.

All we can do now is pray and wait. Call upon our faithful God who is trustworthy and good. I believe God has called them to this adoption and has placed Daniel in their hearts. I believe He will work it out for His glory. I believe His desire for Daniel is to have parents and a family who love him unconditionally and will teach him in the ways of the Lord. Lord, fulfill their longing!

Here's a picture of Daniel soon after he was born. This is the picture we all fell in love with! Pray for him to come home! http://www.calmministries.org/Calm/Our_kids.html#2

i really wish i was a ballerina. why did i loose my patience with ballet classes in high school? i wish i had realized then how much i would miss it now. but as always, hind sight is 20/20. i miss dancing. i miss the way it makes me feel. i kept talking this year about how i was going to take classes again. this fall i’m going to get serious about it.
have you been watching So You Think You Can Dance this summer? it’s incredible. it’s not just another reality show with people competing mostly to get famous. it’s serious dancers doing incredible dancing and showcasing fantastic choreography. last night’s pas de deux by katie and will might have been one of the greatest dances i’ve seen on the show. oh to be able to dance like that!
