All the sunshine this week made me anxious for spring! It's still too cold to bust out the spring clothes, but I had to find something new and colorful to match the weather. I went down to my basement and pulled out the bin of purses I've collected over the years. (I used to have a serious purse collecting problem...) I found this pink bag I bought a couple years ago at TJ Maxx. It had a big leather bow on the front which I liked at first but eventually it drove me crazy. It was just too big. So, a purse redo was born!
I cut out the leather bow with an exacto knife. I made a double layer ruffle strip with this beautiful Amy Butler fabric. I threaded the strip through and secured it with my trusty hot glue gun. I'm still thinking about adding a flower on there somewhere...
I was asked to donate something to a raffle for a fundraiser benefiting one of the pastors at my church. He and his family are moving to Kenya later this year with Africa Inland Missions. (Their blog). I used this same fabric to make this cute clutch to donate to the raffle. If you live in Des Moines, come on out and buy a raffle ticket! There will be lots of great stuff donated by local businesses and artists. It will be a great family friendly event! Holmertz Family Fundraiser
