Strep Throat

So I feel like I'm eight again...home sick with strep throat. I left kamp on Monday night for my scheduled day off. When I woke up Tuesday I felt like I'd been hit by a bus. Not good. I had a fever, a headache, and my throat was killing me. Luckily I have nurses with meds at my disposal. My friend immediately brought over a couple doses of "the works" (IBU, sudafed, and vitamin C), a big bottle of gatorade, and a thermometer. I spent the whole day layed out on the couch drinking what felt like gallons of water and gatorade (ok and a diet coke or two in there somewhere). My director didn't want me to come back to kamp until my symptoms were cleared up and I'd been fever free for at least 24 hours. So, I spent a second night at home. I was hoping to wake up feeling more refreshed and ready to go. Nope. Worse. I felt like my throat was on fire and I couldn't swallow even a sip of water. So off to the doctor. She took one look in my throat and gave me antibiotics for a week and sent me back home. I would have to stay away from kamp until I had 24 hours of antibiotics in my system. So I tried to enjoy my forced 3rd day of rest. I watched an entire season of the West Wing, deep cleaned and disinfected my apartment, made some really cute cards (maybe I'll send you one in the mail!), bought a new book (Julie and Julia - saw the movie preview and thought I might give it a try), and took plenty of naps. I'm down to my last 10 minutes of quarantine so I better go. I've been anxious to get back to kamp but I think it's going to be a little bit of an adjustment. I kind of like my air conditioning and my own bed!

At kamp we are in our 2nd to last term of kids. Time is flying by! Before I know it we'll be saying good-bye. :( I promise to do a better job of taking pictures so you can see what's going on and so I'll have some to remember my summer! Hope you are doing great and avoiding the summer sickness. Love and miss you all.

Legally Blonde The Musical

Finally the day came! Yesterday Ashley, Blair and I drove to Fayetteville, AR to see LB. It was amazing! We got down there a little early so we could go to lunch before the show. We ate at Marketplace - delish! Then we headed over to the show. It was Blair's first time to ever see a Broadway show on stage so it was so fun to experience that with her. We all were blown away with how good it was. Sometimes with traveling shows you never know how good everything will be, but they did a great job. Thanks again to all of you who gave me the tickets for my birthday. Best present!! Here are a few pics.

First of all - this was our dessert at lunch. The "Chocolate Mess" - YUM! They coat the entire glass inside and out with chocolate then freeze it, put vanilla ice cream and hot fudge inside and drizzle on some nuts.

Here we after the show.

We love LB!

4th of July

I hope everyone had a great 4th. I spent mine here at kamp obviously. I was so sad to miss a year in Michigan with everyone, but we had a pretty fun day. To start things off right we woke the kids up with firecrackers right outside their cabins. I don't really know how, but somehow I got nominated to light the firecrackers and throw them into the gravel. Scary! Brandy and I decorated the office with red, white, and blue balloons and a huge American flag. Everything was very patriotic. :) The kampers spent the day playing at the pool and the water park. In the evening we had a parade with lots of skit characters (including Jane Qui Qui - pictures to come), the Branson Fire Chief in his fire car, and lots of candy for the kids. K1 and K-kauai came over to K-Kountry to watch the fireworks. It was a pretty good show, but I have to admit the whole time I was imagining myself lounging in a beach couch on Lake Michigan beach watching an even better show over the lighthouse! Here are a few pictures from the day. I have more on my camera but I haven't had a chance to download them yet.

In the morning Brandy and I wanted to celebrate with the K1 office girls (the kamp right next door) so we decided to meet in the middle for a little party. We made them a sign:
Yay office girls! K1 brought us fresh blueberries and sweet tea. Yum!
Lauren, Christine, and I. K-Kountry office girls love the USA!
My next time off is this weekend but it's a busy one - I'm finally going to see Legally Blonde the Musical!! I am so excited. Ashley and I have been counting down the days for weeks. Can't wait to post pictures and tell you all about it. :)

Pixie Dust and Fairy Wings

Our sweet Ella is three! We celebrated her birthday the only way a Kanakuk girl would - with lots of magic, live characters, and a crowd of good friends. The theme was tinkerbell and we went all out!

With the birthday girl
Isn't that set up gorgeous? I felt like a kid again!
All the birthday girl had been asking for was a red car...and she got her wish. The face of surprise was priceless!
As you can see there were more adults than kids at the party. Who says you have to be 3 to enjoy a fairy party?! We had a blast celebrating Ella! (Yes, you are seeing correctly - Peter Pan and a Lost Boy are in there)
Even Half Pipe Harry and Bummer showed up to wish Ella a Happy Birthday! Harry gave her a box of her favorite candy.
"Tinker-mommy" and the little princess opening presents
Happy Birthday Ella! Nay-Nay loves you!
