March for Babies

The March for Babies is March of Dimes biggest fundraiser. March of Dimes has the mission to give every baby a healthy start. Obviously this is a cause close to my heart. My sister and brother-in-law (and my nephew) have started a team and will be walking on April 25th in the March for Babies walk in San Diego. The money they raise will help:
- support all-important research offering preventions and solutions for babies born too soon or with birth defects
- educate women on things they can do to increase their chances of having a healthy baby
- provide comfort and information to families with a newborn in intensive care
- push for newborn screening and health insurance for all pregnant women and children

If you want to join their team click here. It's really easy to donate online. If you need a little motivation, just look at this precious little face:

The little munchie needs you! :)

Big Cedar Getaway

Last week some friends of mine blessed me with a night at Big Cedar. It was such a needed little get-away! My friend Cynthia came out with me and spent the night. We stayed in one of their super cute little cabins that over looks the lake. AMAZING! The cabin even had a wood burning fireplace (if only either of us knew how to light a fire!). First we went on a walk and enjoyed the beautiful weather.
When we got back from our walk, Vivian the cookie lady had been by to turn down the bed and leave us some home made cookies! She even left us a the recipe and wrote us a good night note. Dear Vivian, will you be my best friend?! :)
Check out this shower! I wasn't really planning on showering that day since it was my day off but I did just because I had to experience a shower with 4 shower heads!
We went all out for our girls night at the cabin. We ordered a BBQ chicken pizza (YUM!) and drank water out of wine glasses.
After we finished our pizza we made busted out the junk food! Popcorn (kettle corn for Cyndi and Homestyle for me) and ice cream!
Blue Bell Cookies and Cream and Ben and Jerry's Heath Bar Crunch!
Even the little throw pillow was cute! It says "Sweet Dreams from Big Cedar". I slept so hard that night that I don't even think I dreamt!
I also got to enjoy some time at the spa while I was there. My new favorite activity is getting a massage. I plan on making that a much more frequent thing in my life! Thanks again to my dear friends C & R for blessing me with a night away. I am so grateful!

Psalm 4

Answer me when I call to you,
O my righteous God.
Give me relief from my distress;
be merciful to me and hear my prayer.

How long, O men, will you turn my glory into shame?
How long will you love delusions and seek false gods?
Know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself;
the LORD will hear when I call to him.

In your anger do not sin;
when you are on your beds,
search your hearts and be silent.
Offer right sacrifices
and trust in the LORD.

Many are asking, "Who can show us any good?"
Let the light of your face shine upon us, O LORD.
You have filled my heart with greater joy
than when their grain and new wine abound.
I will lie down and sleep in peace,
for you alone, O LORD,
make me dwell in safety.

friends

I cracked open my new REAL SIMPLE magazine this afternoon and found this on the "thoughts" page (one of my favorite parts of the whole magazine).

"What I expect from my male friends is that they are polite and clean. What I expect from my female friends is unconditional love, the ability to finish my sentences for me when I am sobbing, a complete and total willingness to pour their hearts out to me, and the ability to tell me why the meat thermometer isn't supposed to touch the bone." - Anna Quindlen, Living Out Loud

I am so thankful to have lots of female friends (and sisters) who are exactly like this. Over the last couple of weeks as I've walked through a tough time my friends have been there for me in all of these ways and more. So, thank you friends. And thank you to my male friends for being polite and clean (most of the time).

feeling fancy

my dear friend surprised me with an impromptu girl's night tonight complete with ice cream sundaes, diet coke, a chick flick, and a stack of magazines. love it!

i've been doing a little blog-jogging tonight and have found some gorgeous new things. just have to share.

i found this new site that you just have to bookmark! www.thekindredsite.com it's this gorgeous website started by two friends - kindred spirits. They have a bunch of free downloads - all gorgeous - you won't be able to decide which one to download first! I made this one my desktop for spring. it makes me want to put on a dress and dance in a field of flowers - people do that, right?

Next up: http://shopmadisonbelle.com Say goodbye to my next paycheck! I found this cookbook that I'm trying to stop myself from buying but I don't know how long that's going to last. It just looks too delicious! :)
Tip Junkie is probably the greatest and most dangerous website I have ever found. I'm constantly finding great ideas. Be careful - once you get started on there two hours will have gone by and you won't have noticed! I want to make this fabric egg tree for Easter. How cute is this?!
Ok - back to my chick flick. (My Best Friend's Wedding by the way - one of my all time favs) I may even bust out the nail polish and facial mask here pretty soon. :) Happy Weekend!

Wrent band's new CD! A must buy!

I feel so cool to say that not only am I a huge fan of Wrent but also that they are my great friends! I've been able to travel with them a couple of times lately at Afterdark events. They just put out their second album last week and it is AWESOME! You have to buy it!! Go to iTunes and download it, NOW. Not only do they have great music, they do great things too. Half of the profit from their music sales and their merchandise sales goes directly to Cross International which delivers food, shelter, and hope to the poorest of the poor.

Also, go to their website (www.wrentband.com) to find out when they are playing near you. At their shows they sell the coolest t-shirts! I went to buy one and came out with two because I just couldn't decide! These are the shirts I bought:

If you live around me, I'm sorry in advance that you'll see me wearing these all the time becasue they are totally my new favorite shirts. So, go buy the album and tell everyone you know about it!

Here and there...

Well...I don't have much going on but I feel like I need to post something.  I've been traveling a little bit for work recently.  Last week we went to the University of Florida and did an Afterdark event.  It was great!  There were about 5,000 people at the event and an incredible response from the students.  I really wish I could have really enjoyed Florida while I was there but I was only in the state for less than 24 hours.  After we (and by "we", I mean Adam) drove the full 17 hours home on Friday I crashed into bed and then had a relaxing weekend.

Tomorrow I'm going to Jonesboro, AR for another event at Arkansas State University.  This one is a quick trip, which I'm thankful for.  Just down and back in less than 24 hours.  And only 8 hours total in the car - praise the Lord!

It's supposed to be in the 70's here tomorrow!  Spring is just around the corner. YAY!

P.S. Did you watch American Idol tonight?  I can not believe that the judges brought Tatiana back!  That was definitely a ratings move.  She is absolutely ridiculous.
