Today I became a member of my church, Telos Bible Church. My pastor, Bernard, has been doing a series on what our church believes and what it really means to be a member. Today he did a Q&A covering questions that people in our church submitted last week. The main thing I've learned about our church is that we hold to the Bible no matter what. No matter what the issue, we stand on Truth. All "becoming a member" entailed was to put your information on a card - not exactly a big deal. But, by doing this I commit to "Believe, Belong, Be Trained, Be Strong." This is what that means:
We BELIEVE that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior that WE BELONG to the fellowship and family of God, to BE TRAINED in reading and memorizing our Bibles, in serving the body, evangelizing, and in prayer, to BE STRONG until Jesus comes or He takes us home.
I'm excited about being a member. There are some really great people in our church and I love being a part of this local body of believers. If you live in Branson and don't have a church home come visit Telos! www.telosbiblechurch.com

The Happiest Place on Earth
It's official people! For those of you that don't know yet (and I'm sorry if you're finding out here for the first time) I get to spend this summer at the happiest place on earth - K-Kountry!! It's been 4 years since I last worked at K-Kountry. I have been here in Branson for those 4 years and been able to visit K-Kountry all the time, but it's not quite the same.
Back to living in a barn, making posters, being forced to be in skits, loving on precious little kampers, studing the Word with our amazing staff, filling out ribbons, wearing a one-piece swim suit, eating too many pb&j sandwiches, riding waterslides, "can I get the nature box?", wearing crazy costumes, checking CQ's and so much more!
Plus I get to hang out with this crazy bunch of people. Come by and visit us! It's going to be an awesome summer! :)

Fun Etsy purchases
So, now that I've started my own Etsy shop I'm totally addicted to shopping on there! Here are two things I've bought lately that I absolutely LOVE!
As you know, I'm completely in love with my nephew Finn. I like to brag about him to anyone who will listen. Once I start bragging people want to see pictures of the little cutie so I bought this "brag book" from Laflor. I stuffed it full of pics of the Finnster and keep it in my purse so I can show him off at anytime.
While you're purusing these ladies shops don't forget to stop by mine as well! Happy shopping! :)
I been looking for a small gold pendant necklace for a while and I found the perfect one in edor's shop. Check it out, she has some great stuff!

Branson Bi-Partisan All American Inauguration Costume Bash!
I have the greatest, most creative and fun friends in the world! Last night we threw a costume party to celebrate the inauguration of President Obama. Everyone was to come dressed as a character from American history. We grilled some All-American cheeseburgers, had corn on the cob, coleslaw, waffle fries, and flag cake of course! We watched the Neighborhood Inaugural Ball and then Obama's swearing in and speech. It was such a blast!
I went as Rosie the Riveter. I was totally loving the red lipstick! You can't see it here, but I have a wrench in my shirt pocket and a button that says "We Can Do It!".

All the girls: Rosie, Jackie O, Betty Ford, Sarah Palin, Monica Lewinsky, Sacagewea, and Scarlet O'Hara (how cute is she?!). Rylie answered to "Scarlet" all night and called Katie "Indian Mommy" - that girl knows how to play a character! :)
John Wayne, Mark Twain, Illegal Immigrant, Benjamin Franklin, Joe White as Paul, and a gorilla? (I'm not sure what his role in American History is but, hey it's a costume)

My Etsy shop is OPEN for business!
I'm so excited!!! I only have a couple of things posted right now, but check it out! And spread the word! You can click on the link on the right side of your screen or go to plainlyjanemats.etsy.com. Right now there are 6 floor mats on there. There's a great Valentine's Day one if you're looking for something fun for your house or as a gift. I'm hoping to get some placemats done soon as well. Also any mom's out there - I'm going to do a few "splat mats" as well. See my post back on Dec. 9th titled "Recent Projects" for a picture of one I did for my friend Annie.
I hope you like it! :) Yipee!!

Hello again
It's been about a week since I've posted, but not much has been happening. I'm working really hard to get my esty shop up and running. The living room in my apartment is slowly being taken over by craft supplies and my evenings are spent going from project to project with short breaks to change out the Gilmore Girls DVD disc (I just finished watching season 2 and I'm probably going to Target on my way home from work to buy season 3! - I'm addicted!). Needless to say this leaves little time for posting interesting blogs! :) Keep checking back here for a link to my shop once I get some listings posted. I'm really excited about the floormats that I've got going. I've got some cute ideas for Valentine's day!
Be back soon. - jane

Nixon Family Scrapbook
I've posted about this before, but I'm once again totally in love with scrapblog! I made my first thing to print this week and just have to share it with you. My friend Hayley asked me to help her with her family's 2008 scrapbook so of course I jumped at the chance to scrapblog. (Hayl - I hope you don't mind me sharing this). I love the way this turned out - mostly because of the beautiful pictures of their super cute family. :)

Finally, Celine!!!!
It has finally come and sadly already gone...Celine Dion live in concert!! Jill and I made met in Kansas City last weekend for our long awaited evening with the diva herself. We got all dolled up, ate a delicious dinner at the plaza, and went to the concert. I have seriously never had so much fun at a concert before in my life! We had amazing seats - 12th row on the floor. Jill is amazing at taking pictures at concerts so she was in charge of the photography. Check it out:

There she is!!

We were just a little bit excited.

Celine rocking it.
"River Deep, Mountain High" Our favorite one of the night.
Can you tell how close we are?
"My Heart Will Go On" Classic.
I know it's only January but this is a highlight of my year! It's going to take something big to top this one. :)

2008 - The Highlights
As I went back through pictures to write this blog I found so many great memories! Here are just a few highlights of a fantastic year.
A trip to Key Largo, FL in the spring with my mom and sister. Ahh...sunshine!
Turning 25! I always thought that at 25 I would really feel like a "grown up", but most of the time I still feel like a kid. If you're wondering what is happening in this picture my friends threw me a surprise party and Pete, Austin, Jason, and Brett wrote me a little song "An Ode to Nay-Nay". I've never felt so loved! :)
In my job I get the chance to travel to incredible places! One trip that stands out this year was a trip to Brady, TX for a Pure Excitement event. We stayed at the most amazing ranch house. Here's Jennafer and I enjoying the morning on the porch swing.
I got a new car! I'm really not that in to cars, but I had to mention Roxie the Rogue! She's a great little ride and it's my first car that I paid for all by myself. :) I guess I am growing up.
The 4th of July in Frankfort. Every summer in Michigan is wonderful and special to my family. This year Frankfort put on the best fireworks show we've ever seen!
Trips to Chicago. I love that city! I got to go up a couple of times this year and visit my sister and friends.
Countless great memories with friends in Branson! I am so thankful for my friends. I feel so blessed to have friends that truly care about me and love me through thick and thin. They have all been there for me this year in every way. Here's just one fun recent memory from our trip to the Christmas tree farm.
Des Moines, IA (and the people there). No matter how many years I'm gone Des Moines will always feel like my "home base".
And last but certainly not least this little guy. The Finnster. He is truly a miracle baby and I love him so much!
It doesn't hurt that he lives in San Diego! :)
I'm sure that 2009 will be full of even more great memories! I can't wait too see what God has in store for me. Happy New Year!
