Breakfast at Tiffany's

I just watched Breakfast at Tiffany's for the first time and I loved it! I can't believe I've never seen it before now. I totally see why people fell in love with Audrey Hepburn, her little black dress and her big sunglasses. I think my favorite part is the opening scene when she is eating her breakfast outside Tiffany's in her little black dress and giant pearl necklace. She is so elegant but comfortable at the same time. You really should rent it. You'll love it too.

Thank you God for using Beth Moore

Beth Moore is one of my favorite Bible Study writers. I am always encouraged and challenged by her. God has used her in amazing ways at the perfect times in my life. I have had so many times with her books that I open it up and say "Wow. I think God had her write this specifically for me, specifically for today." I love when He does that! Anyway, wanted to share the great encouragement I got from the Lord today via Beth.

The title scripture for the days lesson was 2 Samuel 7:29. "Now be pleased to bless the house of Your servant, that it may continue forever in Your sight; for You, O Sovereighn LORD, have spoken." In this passage in 2 Sam. David also asks "Is this Your usual way of dealing with man, O Sovereign LORD?" Beth says: Yes! Goes doesn't just redeem on occasion. He is the Redeemer, It's His job! It's what He does because it's who He is. He buys captives back from slavery and restores the surrendered fortunes of their son-ship....Although God has no intention of cooperating with us while we keep returing to sin (hence, the whole concept of chastisement), He is never reluctant to forgive the repentant. His usual way of dealing with man is to bless.

(Still quoting Beth) We have to be courageous enough to acknowledge with our entire body, soul, and spirit that there's utterly no one like God. There is no one like God, no group of people like His people. She asks the question "Have you come to the unshakable conclusion that there is none like God in your life?" Praise God for it, even if it was horrifically painful. Some people live a lifetime without ever allowing themselves to admit that the Lord God of heaven and earth has no equal. Deuteronomy 33:29 says "Who is like you, a people saved by the Lord? He is the shield that protects you, the sword you boast in. Your enemies will cringe before you, and you will tread on their backs." (This verse is going on my bathroom mirror to be read all day long!) God desires to do such extraordinary things for and through us if we accept that everything is for His glory. "For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen." Romans 11:36

Praise God for what He's done, is doing, and will do.

Branson Craft Fair

This weekend was the annual "Autumn Daze" Craft Fair in downtown Branson. My friend Rachel and I just couldn't resist. We mostly went to laugh at our silly town but ended up finding a few booths that had great stuff! Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of the good stuff, but I did snap a few gems.
I've been looking for an apron made out of jean fronts with ribbon attached!

I like to call this the denim disaster. Oh. Dear. Lord.
One of the greatest booths at the fair was the fresh kettle corn. It reminded me of one of my favorite places - the Des Moines farmers market! Rachel and I snacked our way through the fair and sipped on cold IBC rootbeer. Delish.
We had so much fun dreaming of craft ideas together. We had two new business ideas by the end of the day. One of them is a gift wrapping business. You may remember that I love to wrap presents with a theme. Rachel was actually my inspiration for that idea. She always has beautifully wrapped gifts. Our idea is to offer to wrap all of your Christmas gifts in a themed and really creative way. All you would have to do is bring us the gifts and we would return them to you all ready for Christmas morning! At your Christmas parties your gorgeous gifts would be the talk of the town! What do you think? Would you want to take advantage of something like that? Feel free to share any of your ideas or thoughts. :)

Craft Room!

The craft room is finally complete! It was my goal to have it finished today so I could start working. I've already got 4 new mats in the works. While the primer is drying I thought I'd share my new space with you. All of the organized supplies makes me so excited! We've got two cabinets full of stamping stuff, card making stuff, scrapbook paper, ribbon, markers, stickers, etc. Plainlyjanemats is about to be full of all kinds of new stuff!

Here's the gorgeous room. If you find any great projects, ideas, or beautiful inspiration send them my way so I can fill up the bulletin board.

This is probably my favorite part - jar of buttons!
I can't wait to start making more new things! :)

Baby Book

As I'm unpacking I found my baby book and just had to post these pictures. Hilarious!

This is me with my little sister Amy right after she was born. I'm not sure if I was very happy to have her around. :)
After a little while though we got used to each other and were basically attached at the hip. Can you guess why people always thought we were twins?
This is me and my childhood best friend, Jane. When we were in school we were always "Jane H." and "Jane W.". I think this is our first day of kindergarten.
Here I am at the beach in Key Largo. Fun in the sand!
Well, I better get back to unpacking and do something productive. :)

Moving continued

Today has been another long day of settling in. I've been unpacking boxes and trying to find a place for everything. I really love this house! Here are some pictures for you.

Katie and I share a bathroom. All of the cute stuff in there is Katie's and I'm so happy to share it! I LOVE the shower curtain, don't you?

Here's my bedroom. I used all of the same furniture and bedding from my other place but everything feels new. I've arranged it differently so I think that makes a big difference. I am still trying to decide about the poster over the bed. Do you think it's too big there? The smaller frames on the bookshelves match it so I really want to keep them together. We have a huge basement that was pretty empty when I moved in. We put most of my furniture down there and are creating another living room and a craft room. Here's my little office area. I'm sitting there right now typing this. :)
Here's the "living room" area. It's really cozy!
Everything looks pretty put together right? Wrong. Here are all of the boxes I am still unpacking...ugghhh! I'm going to put a bunch of stuff in storage that I don't really need. But I have to unpack everything so I can see what I have before I can repack it for storage. I'm kind of crazy about organizing like that.
After I get this stuff unpacked I'm going to tackle the craft room. YAY! I know that's going to be my favorite part of the whole house. :) I'll keep posting pictures as things get finished.

Moving day!

Today was moving day. Let's just say I am exhausted! The day went really well though. I have amazing friends that made everything go so fast and easy. Everyone came over this morning and we had the entire apartment loaded up in trucks and cars in an hour and a half. We unloaded everything and it was a crazy mess. Sarah and I unpacked my bedroom while Katie and Angela unpacked (and completely reorganized) the kitchen. I really like my new bedroom. It's all the same stuff that was in my bedroom before but everything looks new when it's in a new place. Tomorrow I'm going to try and unpack the basement and put storage stuff away.

My favorite thing about living here is having people around all the time. I'm sure that I will get to a point that I want to be alone but right now I love not being alone. :) I will post some pictures as soon as I can muster up the energy to take some and upload them...

Yay for Labor Day

I had a great labor day weekend. Most days feel like the weekend to me right now but on the real weekends my friends who have jobs can hang out with me! I helped one of my friends move on Saturday. Went to lunch and caught up with another good friend. Sunday I went to church and started packing to move. Monday my girlfriends and I went to the pool all afternoon. It was an absolutely perfect day here. Later that night I was driving out over the lake and was reminded of just how gorgeous a place I live in. Don't do this - but I took this picture while I was driving.

This post has taken me like 20 minutes to write. I am watching Ellen's season premiere (awesome by the way), trying to have a conversation with my soon to be roommates and typing. I feel like I have ADD. I think one of things I'm most excited for when I move is having TV again. Umm...have you seen the show Flipping Out on Bravo? We are watching it right now - amazing! And of course no one can get enough of the Real Housewives.

Alright, I've got to go. I can't focus on the computer any longer.

Hello Again

I'm back! I've been on the road for about two 1/2 weeks. It was so great to have so much time off and see friends and family. Here are just a few photos from my travels.

In Michigan it was freezing cold and raining the whole time my sister and I were there, but we made the most of it. My mom took us to this really cute little shop called Mecca. I could have staying in there ALL DAY! This woman makes all kinds of adorable things and she made me want my own shop. How cute is this little thing? She calls them "cake toppers". You can't really tell but it's a little box. Great gift idea!

Here's Amy and I. Of course just as we were leaving it started to warm up and the sun came out. My last stop was San Diego for my nephew's first birthday! I just fell more in love with him (if that's even possible). Here he is at his party - happy boy!
My sister Anne and I with Finn. Check out that sunset! I love SD.
Me and the Finnster.
Now that I'm back home in Branson I'm trying to get settled again. I'm getting ready to move so that makes things a little crazy. Every day I wake up saying I'm going to start packing and then never do. I think it will just be easier to do it all in one big moving day. Hopefully I can recruit a lot of help. (Moving day with probably be next weekend 9/12-13 for those of you who have already offered to help) I'm moving into a house with my dear friends Katie and Angela. I can't wait to live with them! We are going to have a blast. After living alone for a few years I thought I would never go back to having roommates but I'm really excited about it. It's going to be really good to have great friends to come home to.

As far as a job - I'm still looking for something full time. I've started babysitting for a sweet family. I'm with them every week day, helping with dinner, homework, bath and bedtime. The kids are just precious and so far I love being with them. I can't wait to get to know their family more. Also, I'm planning on kicking my etsy store in to high gear once I get settled so get ready for lots of new stuff! I'll post things here as well as in the store.

My new house has internet (yay!) so I'll be back to regular posting very soon. Have a great day! :)
